NHIT Care Campaign®

Disaster recovery and health IT resilience for underserved communities — born from the Hurricane Maria response, sustained as ongoing infrastructure work.

About the CARE Campaign

NHIT, in partnership with Sprint, Healthcare Ready, and the Primary Care Association, launched the CARE Campaign to support Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Our mission: provide emergency power, medical supplies, communications, and telemedicine support to restore critical health services.

Emergency Aid

We equipped over 100 clinics in Puerto Rico’s hardest-hit areas with internet, laptops, and communications gear, ensuring they could continue serving their communities.

  • 80 two-way radios
  • 150 smartphones
  • 12 INSPIRA Health Centers supported
  • 6 SatCom internet relays
  • “Clinic in a Box” emergency kits
